Eclipse Movie 2010
The third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, was released in theaters in 2010. Directed by David Slade, the movie was the first in the series to be released in IMAX. Fans packed the theaters once more as actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Patterson, and Taylor Lautner appear again in their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black. The movie broke the record for a midnight premier that was originally set by its predecessor, New Moon. The movie grossed $30 million at its midnight premier alone.
In this movie, Bella is being hunted by the vampire Victoria in retribution for the death of her friend in the second movie. The tone of the story starts to shift as the relationships between Edward, Bella and Jacob become more complicated. The first movie targeted a preteen to teen audience, but as the books have progressed, the relationships have become more complicated and taken on a more adult theme, which has upset some parents.
Bella and Jacob’s relationship becomes more complicated as he declares his love for her and kisses her without permission. She punches him and breaks her hand. This incident causes more tension between Edward and Jacob, but they must set aside their differences in order to save Bella from Victoria, who is played in this movie by Bryce Dallas Howard who turned the role down for the first movie because the role was too small.
The battle finishes with a tense meeting with the Volturi after the Cullens and werewolves team up to defeat Victoria and her army of newborn vampires. This is where Bree, who is later featured in The Short Second Life of Bree Turner is introduced.
