Two Movies in One

Breaking Dawn is twice as fun with two movies instead of one.

Breaking Dawn, the final installment of the heavily beloved Twilight series will be in theaters soon, but not in one part. As any twi-hard already knows, Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the Twilight movie franchise, is releasing the films in two separate parts. The first film will be released on November 18, 2011. While the second and final film is slated for release in November 2012.
Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the release of the first film, and it doesn’t help that there have been multiple leaks released online. The pictures and 14 second video did not please the studio or cast, but fans were all too happy to get a sneak peek at the long awaited and controversial honeymoon scene.
The snippet of video and pictures fueled speculation that Breaking Dawn wouldn’t be PG-13. But Summit Studios and director Bill Condon quieted the rumors. To add fuel to the fire, Robert Pattinson or Edward, was rumored to have had some sort of panic attack on set before filming the infamous scene. Citing that he didn’t want to hurt his girlfriend Kristen Stewart, or Bella; he even requested a body double to fill in for her role.
The question still arises as to how the very graphic birth scene will be handled in order to heed the PG-13 rating. Fans will just have to wait until November to find out, and by November, that probably means of 2012. The screenwriter of the Twilight movie franchise, Melissa Rosenberg, hinted at a potential splitting point during an interview saying “…I think it comes down to Bella as human and Bella as vampire,” but the decision is ultimately up to director Bill Condon.
It’s of no surprise that the on-screen adaption is being split into two parts. Stephanie Meyers even thought it would be necessary because of the length of the book. But twi-hards should breathe a sigh of relief that the movie is in two parts, or else those midnight showings could easily get in the way of work or school. Seeing the length of the book, the movie could have easily been four or five hours long. Even though fans would argue that four or five hours of quality Edward and Jacob time wouldn’t be all that bad.
