The Secrets of Breaking Dawn Revealed

When readers finished New Moon, the third installment in the Twilight series, they were left with several questions that begged to be answered. Fans young and old eagerly anticipated the release of the final installment in the series and Stephanie Meyer came through. Breaking Dawn ties everything together in a way that satisfies readers from both “Team Edward” and “Team Jacob.”

Twilight fans waited eagerly to see if and how Bella would become a vampire. Bella does become a vampire and how it comes about, ties the whole story together. Bella becomes pregnant while she and Edward are on their honeymoon. The baby grows at an astounding rate, breaking Bella’s bones and causing both the werewolves and the Cullens to fear that it was a monster that was going to kill her before it was even born.

The pack decides that the baby is an unknown factor and must be destroyed. Jacob and Seth break away from the pack in order to protect Bella, and Leah joins them. When Bella finally goes into labor, her heart stops as soon as the baby is born. Edward and Jacob work together to get enough venom into her body to save her, but Jacob finally gives her up for dead.

Jacob starts to leave and decides to kill the baby first. However, when they make eye contact Jacob imprints with her. Because she is now his soul mate, the rest of the pack accepts her and she becomes part of their family, as do the Cullens by extension. Edward saves Bella and she becomes a vampire.

Life seems idyllic for Bella, Edward, Jake and baby Renesmee, until Alice foresees the entire Volturi coming to kill all of them because they think that Renesmee is an immortal child. The Cullens gather a force of fellow vampires to stand as witnesses to the baby’s mortality. The Volturi are met by a group of gifted vampires and werewolves and are convinced to leave in peace. The book finishes with everyone safe and Bella, Edward and Jacob all get a happy ending.
