The Twilight Saga

The Twilight Saga became an international success with the release of the first book, Twilight. For anybody that loves romance, intrigue and horror, this series fits the bill. Though originally targeted at the preteen female population, the books have won the hearts of people of all ages. The first three books have been made into movies by Summit Entertainment and the fourth and final book is currently in production and will be released in two parts. Breaking Dawn: Part I will premier in November of 2011 and critics already anticipate that it will be a record-breaking movie event.

Consisting of four books including Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, the saga tells the story of Isabella Swan, a seventeen year old girl who moves to Forks, Washington to live with her father. Bella, who knows Jacob Black from childhood, renews the friendship with her Quileute friend and the relationship begins to blossom into something more. A love triangle begins when she meets Edward Cullen, a vampire, in biology class.

The story of these three characters and their families continues amid chaos, danger and heartbreak throughout the four books and evolves from a simple teenage love story and thriller into something that is worthy reading for any adult who loves romance, horror and fantasy. The books take readers through two tumultuous years in the lives of Bella, Edward and Jacob and are filled with plot twists that leaves the reader wanting more.

Though natural to the character development and appropriate to the story, there are some scenes in Breaking Dawn that are a bit controversial. Parents may want to read this final book before deciding whether or not it is appropriate for a preteen reader. The Twilight Saga teaches readers about love and living together despite differences. Author Stephenie Meyer has created a timeless saga that will be read and loved for generations to come.
